I already own the samsung gig of ram. Would it be worth it to buy only 512 of corsair XMS? Will it outperform the gig of 333?

Considering you already own the Samsung and you can use the ram divider to overclock, I don't see why you should go with less ram even though that ram is faster. While there are benefits to faster ram in some situations, there are also benefits to having more ram in others. I wouldn't advise spending the money unless you can get the gig of ram, even if that means getting lesser quality memory. Good luck.

It will outpeform if you buy the right overclocking RAM module, however you lose a GB. Its a tradeoff but it is still your call.

Well I haven't been having too much luck overclocking my 2700 to 3200. Everytime I try I have to reset the cmos jumper. Pain in the rear. However, CMOS Reloaded is supposed to aid the overclocking process by being able to bypass the jumper and clearing the cmos with a hotkey command. But it's not working. Anyway, i tried different timings (7-3-3-2.5, 8-3-3-2.5, 9-3-3-2.5, 11-3-3-2.5, and even 7-4-4-3) however my board just beeps. I've even tried raising the volts a little and no luck yet. I am thinking it might be easier to buy ram that is already at 400. I will have about 300 dollars to spend on my heatsink, fans, and ram. There isn't anything else I need to reach my 400 fsb goal. If anyone has tips on overclocking my memory that would be great. That would prevent me from buying new ram.

I would settle somewhere in-between. My Claw hammer does better at 250x10 166 divder 200FSB 2/2/2/5 timmings than 240x10 1:1 2.5/3/3/10. Now I would much rather have 1GB and find the sweet spot for 2.5/3/3/7 timmings. Probally around 175-185 and then use the divders to keep your memory in spec
