Welcome to the Overclockers Forums

well, no, thats common. You will NEVER find a heatsink without a scratch or two... run your fingernail over the base, and listen/feel for bumps/ridges

Well, you folks have never seen a SeiftTech. The members of this forum seem to have a fixation on Thermalright and a deep hate for ThermalTake. Whilr the former makes better products, they are still guilty of shoddy wrkmenship. The SwitTech's have a finish like a work of art. Okay, enough soapbox!
You should probably la it to improve the finish. That would have been a good idra withou the scratch. I apologize for the rant, but what I daid is true IMO. Now I'll just chill.

Looks like it was a demo that got tossed around on a dirty shelf a lot. If possible, just return it and ask for a NEW one. If you can't do that, lapping should fix it right up.

Edit: Maybe this is why the XP-90 is now coming in blister packs? abuse by vendors?

The NEO2 has a problem reading temps. The general consensus is that it is flakey at best. My temps on my NEO2 idle at 36 and peak at 45.

that really doesn't look bad at all... just make sure you clean the base off well...

btw: the best stock heatsink finish ive seen was vantec's Iceberq4... it had a few scratches (from the shipment), but it was the flattest mirror i have EVER seen ('cept for the screwholes)... if i look at it with graph-paper, only the radius around the screwholes are kind of warped... but thats still not bad at all
