Corrections:
Though it is difficult to establish norms for any kind of overclockability for hardware, from what I have observed, most 6600GT's have at least 40mhz of GPU headroom, and 60mhz of GDDR3 headroom. With appropriate cooling, and good cooling it is easy to get GPU clock in excess of 600mhz, and RAM clocks in excess of 1200. My board is running at 610/1215 for example, cooled by a STASISThermal.com IceStorm heatsink. With voltmods, I've seen 6600GT's hit 670/1300 at which point they are on par with a 6800GT performance wise!
Speaking of performance, this should straighten things out:
A moderately overclocked 6600GT <600/1200mhz will be comparable to a 6800.
An aggressively overclocked 6600GT >600/1200mhz will be faster than a 6800 and can reach 6800GT levels of performance.
In SLI, 6600GT's are at least as fast as a single 6800GT with the latest Forceware drivers.
Overclocking in SLI is typically in vain - buy two BFG OC boards if you want a few extra mhz.

Dollar for dollar nothing hits harder than a NV43...
