hey,

im tryin to overclock my CPU n i've not been to sucessful so far. i dont know what im doin wrong and hoped someone here might b able to help me.

heres the story so far

i have an Athlon XP 3000 and a K7S8X mobo.

rigth now it runno at about 2.2Ghz form a FSB sped of 166 and a multiplier of 13. first thing i tried to do was change the FSB in BIOS, which was set to jumpers so i set it to manual and set the FSB to a couple of dif speeds n everytime i did this the comp wudnt work n after a few times of tryin to come on it just reset itselfn the FSB was now at like 98 r something, but all i had to do then was restart the machine n it wud go back to FSB 166.

neway next i tried to set it myself by jumpers so i changed the jumpers from

1_2 3
1_2 3

to

1_2 3
1 2_3

accoring to the user manual on the website this is the setting for FSB 200 (although i dont trust that manual because the mobo i have has the exact same name n features and all but looks a lil dif than the one they show as the pic, but mine stil has K7S8X writin on it, so its definatly the right board)

neway when i did this the comp failed to load again the same way as it had done when i tried to clock it through BIOS, n after a few failed attempts to load it finally did but the the FSB was running at 133 :S and then when i restarted it wud just not load untill i kept shutin off the power a couple times till it loaded again with the FSB 133...

so neway ive changed the jumpers back to the way they were b4 n the comps back running at FSB 166 and everything is fine. apart form the fact that i feel like i've failed :_(

neone out there that has ne advice on what im doin wrong, r just what im not doing...lol

i read a few threads on this site all very helpful n i think its prob got something to do with my RAM n its just not running at a speed compatable with what im trying to do

Well first off. You have PC2100 RAM in that thing. That is 133MHz and you have it running at 166MHz right? If you want to run at 200Mhz you will need PC3200 or some very lucky 2700.
If you change the fsb to 200 of course it wont load..hehe it will be so unstable!
Does your BIOS have no adjustable FSB options? You should not have to change any jumpers at all.
