I'm sure one liveCD or another supports TV-out well, but you'll need a little more planning if you want to show off what Linux can do. The best first try is Knoppix. If that doesn't work, try dyne:bolic, which specializes in mulitmedia. (Just be really sure to unplug or turn off any speakers when dyne:bolic starts. The last version I tried nearly gave me a heart attack when it shot its startup noise into my headphones at full volume.)
