9800pro running to hot

9800pro running to hot


hi i just bought a new 9800pro oem sapphire card the thing thats wrong with it is the gpu is running so darn hot even my zalman dual heatpipe with cpu fan on it isn't even cooling it enough to even do a benchmark with the stock settings would my card have any type of shims on it or do they come stock with out any shims?

ps. if there are shims on my gpu how do i tak them on and off?

Yes, your 9800 Pro has the shims that suround the GPU. Your Zalman dual heatpipe base is not making enough contact with your GPU core.

To remove the shim, use an exacto-knife (cardboard cutters with thin blades would do), add pressure to the left side of the shim near your AGP connector. The knife should break through, and you can tear your way through the adhesive. Beware though, not to cut off ANY of the small transistors on the GPU core...

ok i did that but my gpu is still to darn hot lol i tried doing a 3dmark03 bench and it faild about 30 seconds after it started the first test i still dot get why my card is so hot will the silencer3 rev3 do me any good on kooling the card i want to play games on my card not just say yea i got a 9800pro in my computer

so no one knows if the silencer will help my temps any i already have a dual heatpipe zalman heatsink and it gets to hot even with a cpu fan on it
