Right now, I would guestimate around $1200-$2000. It would definitely be stupid to buy one of these. For one, games on todays market barely maximize the 256mbs of graphics card memory, much less 512mbs. I am not sure how this would preform in CAD or similar programs compared to a card that designed for those type of applications. In my opinion SAVE the money! You can probably build a dominate computer at the cost of that single card. If you have money to waste, donate it or something. Atleast you will be able to get a Tax Refund.

ZipZoomfly has the BFG version listed for $999.99 (but its not in stock)

It's my opinion that most people would opt for two 6800Ultras and run them in SLI mode rather than buy this 512mb version, but thats my opinion.

Four words: Doom III Ultra Quality.

Anyway, definetly save your money and buy a decent (or even SLI) system with that kind of money...my 2 cards cost me $840, less than ONE of those cards...

The overall industry trend will be towards 512MB GPUs though.

Just thought of three more words: Unreal Engine III

I played the game through in Ultra quality and FPS were great.
There is a FPS drop to high quality but still smooth.

^^ I thought that ultra quality required 512MB of video RAM...

"require" is not the right word. it might be "optimized" by 512mb video ram, but it's not required. im sure a lot of 128mb card play ultra high just fine.

Hahaha.

Yeah, I got my first 6800GT for $450 and my second for about $200, I'll stick with these.

Just for the record, Doom 3 in Ultra quality does not improve the visuals on the textures. The improvement is so minute that you would have to take a screenshot and zoom in like 300% or so to see it. The setting is merely there as a means to store the textures uncompressed. This requires 400ish mb of video memory which is why a 512mb card is needed. Sure, you can run Ultra Quality on a 128/256mb card but you will most undoubtedly notice texture tearing. Why so many people insist that Ultra Quality looks better than High is beyond me.
