I've recently bought a SATA HDD to prepare myself for my next system upgrade. I don't have any SATA ports on this mobo so I've been searching for a card so I can use my HDD. The problem is finding a decent and cheap SATA card without the bells and whistles i.e RAID.

I was looking at this one,

http://www.startech.com/ststore/ItemDetail.cfm?ProductID=PCISATA2EXT&SetCountryCode=CA&tab=g

But I've never heard of the manufacturer. I'm hoping that the card will hold up. Good deal? I can get it for $50 on another site, so the price seems good.

Looks OK I guess, cheap and cheerful.

I went with a Highpoint 1420 (I think) card. No frills, 2 internal SATA ports, works great in Windows and in Linux :)

Thanks. That adapter looks really interesting, but I'd like to keep my IDE ports.
