As the title says.. I have an inspiron 5100, its GREAT for anything i;d want to do with a laptop (DVD, light gaming, business APPs), but apparantly its not future proof. Any idea if they'd ever add an x86-64 adapter to socket 478 so I could keep buying programs for it long after 64bit processing becomes standard ?

64-bit capabilities are built into the chip, plus needs a bios that will support it, my guess is you'll be needing to upgrade your notebook to gain 64-bit support.
