I am starting this thread because the last one has been jacked so many times...I jumped out with my parachute, and I ain't goin' back :D

Has anyone run the same graphics card on similar 939 vs 754 setups, (assuming equal speed, and equal cache, even ht vs normal is ok) on the same game with the same resolution, and what was the fps difference? I am trying to figure how much of a bottle neck doom 3, half life 2 etc. puts on the cpu. any game will do though for this comparison.

addendum: if you ran them on completely diff 754 vs 939 that's cool too, I want to see how many more fps I can get if I go with 939 over 754.

oc'ed rigs are fine.
stock rigs are find.
but please only post real world experience, not opinion. thanx

me and stang are doing something like this. his 939 3000+ winny cbbid is at 310 x 8 and my 754 2800+ nc is at 278 x 9. hes getting a pci-e 6600gt and i have a agp 6600gt. when he gets his stuff and i get my wcing, we will post extensive aquamark/3dmark01se-05 results.

Yeah in about a month we can see what differance in performance the 754 and 939 have. I am sure i will have my 6600gt, and CCuabide will have his h20.

But my old system was a NC2800 @ 2.5ghz. Hit 24k w/6800nu unlocked pipes 450/920 in 3dmark01. My system now hits 20k w/6600non GT at the same clock speeds. Only differance between my new system and the old one are my cpu, mobo, video card. Use to have a DFI NF3 250gb on my 754 setup.

That sounds good ccuabidexorxdie. I will be looking forward to it :D

TheGame240: very helpful link  thanks, I'm reading through it now.

Not to get off topic....but how do you unlock pipes? I've heard of it before, and I know what pixel pipelines are (sortof) would it be possible to do this to my crappy @SS graphics card? It's in the sig.

the difference is not huge that's for sure. like 1-10 fps probably. get a nice vid card, THAT'll get you some extra fps :)
