my comp wont turn off properly :-(

ok, this problem has been occuring to me quite a few times over the past year and now its starting to become annoying.
Everytime i attempt to turn off my comp, it goes through the shutdown process and my hard drives even spin down. But then it doesnt shut off and restarts instead. Does anyone have a clue on what could be causing this? my specs are in my sig under the first rig
thanks

How are you trying to shut it down? Are you hitting the power button or through the Start menu/Shutdown. What version of WIndows are you using?

Check out Jim Eshelman's site for shutdown/restart problems with XP...

Another good troubleshooting site for shutdown problems is the ElderGeek's site here...
