Doom3 Problems Need Help Plz

My rig is what is listed either under main or rig 1 whichever i cant remember.
Now i played doom3 medium graphics all the way to communications level with no problems. Then i get into this room and all the sudden the game is so laggy i cant do anything AT ALL. I even added another 512mb ram to make 1 gig and this did not help, also did deframent nothing helped. Why would the game all the sudden decide it wont run on my computer ?

Did you try reinstalling the game? Make sure to save your save games.

I have saved them no matter how many times i load into that level it's still messed up
The point is to try not to reinstall i dont want to start over here and who's to say it just wont happen again. I need to know WHY it's doing this.

Ok i downloaded the patch for doom3, but i cannot figure out where to go on ATI website for my videocard to get the latest driver. Do i need hydravision ? What is catalyst? Also when i download hydravision and go to install it doesnt list the Xpro's as compatible just the radeon 7000 - 9800.
