NEW Firefly Movie:@ Serenity...

Hey all

Firefly was this awesome scifi series that used to be on, totally cool series..
But unfortunately the powers that be decided to drop it after the 1st series, for some totally unknown insane reason really, because the series was as popular as Babylon 5 was - so their reason for dropping it had to be insane jane you know?!

Any ways, the makers of that fabulous series, have made a film of it, and the new trailer for it has just been released..

And it looks awesome let me tell ya

Check it out here....

A bit of resurrection here- I just recently became a fan of "Firefly": my sister bought the DVD set and loaned it to me.

I have since bought my own set.

Best sci-fi show in years, bar none.

The movie comes out in September (previews going on now but are ALL sold out already) and with a good showing and profit more movies are likely.
Continuing the series is also in the realm of possibility if profits are good enough......

I look forward to this movie more than I have any in a long time.....

Yeah, this thing is more popular than Babylon 5 ever was! I never could get into that show. Firefly gets back to the roots of SciFi and approaches it with modern sensibilities.

Anybody hear any news about Firefly getting picked back up?

No news that I'm aware of as yet.

Still to early to tell.

The cast and crew, however, are in favor of finding ways to continue with the concept, in whatever medium they can.

And even with the short run on tv, and one movie done, they have plenty of stories to tell.

I never seen the show but went and saw this movie because all you guys were raving about it.

OMG this movie was all around terrible and only had a few redeeming moments. The movie reminded me of watching an episode of Zena or Hecules. It left me wanting more information about the really well written characters like that Black Ninja guy, or the Doctor's telepathic sister. Instead it focused alot on the poorly written people like the ship's Captain, Pilot, and strange characters like ("Mr. Universe", the Old Black Colony's leader, the experimental research station's leader), that pop up only to die moments later.
They kept focusing on the wrong stuff. One example is the scene with those two shady twins. They were good characters that you would want to find out who, what, and why they are in the movie...instead the scene changes into Telepathic girl going kung-fu crazy.
The whole point of Telepathic girl really gets overlooked. The origin of her strange powers really get overlooked. They skipped over why they did that to her, how they did that, exactly what they did, and for how long. The only thing you know for sure is "who" did those experiments. It would not be that big of a deal if it wasn't for the fact that the movie started out showing all that and made her such a major character.

Overall this movie lacked focus. The first 8 minutes were really really good, the space battle with those "Harrier" things was pretty good, and the special effects were also exceptional in a few scenes. Everything else was a pain to watch.

I'll agree with RogerDugans above in that it had alot of stories to tell. My problem is how they told most of those stories and which stories those chose.

That actually does seem to be a common point with those I have talked to that didn't enjoy the movie-
They only told the one story, but they alluded to a lot of others.

You have to be a fan to appreciate the movie I guess. Me and the wife loved it, but we loved the series too.
