Does anyone know what happens when your monthly subscription expires in EQ2. Do they charge your credit card automatically (hope not) or does the service become discontinued so that you need to reactivate it yourself.

Think that option is in the game/account area. You determine the billing type. By default I think it was set to recurring (they'll automatically bill). But I haven't played EQ2 in months, so my memory may not be the best.

yea im pretty sure it automatically charges you unless you cancel or set it otherwise

Yeah, they pretty much all do that unless you use a pre-paid card or something.

Its easy enough to change your payment or cancel the account. Plus when you get the itch to come back your stuff will still be there.

I'm pretty sure that they automatically charge your card when the subscription is up. I've had my subscription since they day it went live and have never had a lapse in playing. I also played EQ1 for 5 years or more and it was the same situation. My card was charged automatically.

I'm not sure if there is an option to not re-subscribe, but I never looked to be honest. It's easy enough to just cancel your account if you don't want to subscribe anymore. I did it when i quit EQ for a while and didn't have any issues. If you want to restart your subscription after cancelling, it's pretty painless as well to activate again. My character was still there after 6 months of no subscription.
