Temp monitering programs are not accurate as they go off your mobo temp sensor which is really never completely accurate. So even if you find a good software the readings will still have a big possibility of being way off from what they really are.

The best thing to get if you want ACCURATE temp readings is a temp sensor that you buy that has and lcd of some sort that can display it in a 3 and half inch or 5 and a half inch drive.

Just find a program you like the best.

All programs run off what your BIOS tells it. Its not the programs that are innacurate. its your MOBO's sensors.

EWBat - I was thinking of doing this as motherboard sensors are known to be notoriously bad for reporting accurate temperatures. Can you suggest a good temperature sensor / LCD display? Also, where is the best place to mount the sensor? I will be using an XP-120 for cooling.

This one is pretty comprehensive.

This is a cheaper alternative if you don't need the display all the time. If you buy this one you may have to buy some flat thermal sensors. They're about $5 more.

The best place to mount the thermal sensor is right up against the cpu. In your case just tape it down somewhere where the sensor is touching the heatspreader. Your core will be a bit warmer than the heatspreader temp but it'll be close.
