Sup foos. :)
Well I was looking around on NewEgg for the cheapest X800PRO with VIVO (Since I want to flash to X800XTPE :p ). And I came across 3 REALLY similar X800PROs from Sapphire.
100600-Red:http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102465
100600L-Red:http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102466
100600SR:http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102496

I was comparing them and they all seem to have really minimal differences (Like HDTV or OpenGL1.5 on the 100600-Red). What I was wondering is...do any of these have 1.6ns RAM? If not, is there any reason why I should get either the 100600-Red or the 100600SR over the 100600L-Red?

its head to head with the 6800GT

only at stock may this be true......

I don't believe any of those cards come with the 1.6ns memory. I was looking at those cards in the refurb section (about $50 cheaper) and noticed the openGL thing. I'm also interested to know what the difference is on these cards?

Oh thats actually quite simple. Here's why they are different:

Top one is OEM
Next is retail Non-VIVO
Final is retail VIVO

You want the vivo ie, #3

ah..... they use the 1.6ns memory on the pro-vivo cards (pci-express)? didn't know that.... cool I might have to hunt down a used/refurbished one....

Yes, the VIVO X800 Pro cards commonly have the better memory. Apparantly the PCI-Express VIVO X800 Pros do not have unlockable pipelines, whilst the AGP versions do. I am unsure whether or not this has anything to do with Rialto.

The memory situation is really quite peculiar, because all newer X800 XLs come with 2.0ns, non-VIVO X800 Pros come with 2.0ns, VIVO X800 Pros come with 1.6ns........ but 256 Meg X700 Pros seem to mostly be coming with 1.6ns memory.

Why on earth would this be the case, barring really agressive speed binning of the better 1.6ns memory?

Gah, that's too bad. =/ I didn't realize it was AGP only. Looks like I may wind up X800XL. Either that or I get a X800PRO/X850PRO and hardmod it to 16 pipelines (The conductive paint thingy). I'm assuming this is still possible?

The X850 Pro is still a very good overclocker's card if you can find one for around the same price as an X800 XL (Newegg refurbs is a good place to start).

The two are of very similar performance at stock speeds, but the X850 Pro pulls way ahead once fully overclocked. The X800 XL's R430 core has been a poor overclocker thus far, perhaps due to a very new and 'infantile' process.

Any info on how the X850Pro overclocks? Seems like high 600's on air should be possible considering its stock clocks. But don't forget that the 850's perform worse than 800's at the same speed. If it's anything like X800XT PE vs X850XT PE, you're going to want the X800Pro instead.

There aren't too many results floating around. I haven't seen any voltage modified results at all as a matter of fact :-/. This is not a particularly popular or common video card.

All of the BBA X850 Pro cards that I have seen have 1.6ns memory on them, even though ATi's reference specifications only call for 2.0ns memory. The card uses the R480 core, although it has most likely been speed binned, with 4 faulty (perma-locked in any case) pipelines.

Most of the X850 XT/XTPE cards are hitting around 600 on the core with stock cooling and stock voltages, and around 600 on the memory with RAMSinks and stock voltages. It is a given that the Pros will be ending up slightly slower than this on average.

Here is a good list of XT/XTPE results on XS: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=57628&page=2&pp=25&highlight=X850

Haven't heard anyone complete this paint thingy besides one guy who claimed it but never posted any pictures...I am pretty certain it's a no go.

I had 3 X800 PRO VIVO PCI-E pass thru my hands - all had 2.0ns memory
