how to extract BIOS without BIOS extractor

I need to replace my BIOS chip. I cannot get to a store to get a BIOS extractor. Is there anything I can use to extract the BIOS as a substitute without the extractor? Thanks.

If you have one of those little square bioses that pop into the socket and the pins wrapped around the bios chip and not sticking underneath of it (sorry forget the potically correct term) I've had excellent luck with a razor blade. It's small enough to stick down into the socket and pop out of the bracket. Just make sure you pry it out and not scrape it out.

One of the socket corners has an openining, put a small screwdriver there and just pop it out.
For next time though put some floss or thread underthe chip with the end sticking out and when you need just pull the chip out. - Credit to mtb856.
