Wireless networking

Okay guys heres my scenario:

I wanna network 2 pcs - 1 is at my house in my bedroom next to window - the other is in a house on the other side of the road about 20 metres down.

Question:

We wanna link them up using wireless networking - primarily so that we can share a ADSL line. Speed is not much of an issue 100-200 KB/s is needed at least. Price is the issue we gonna need 2 of such cards so gotta be reasonably cheap.

We are line of site pretty much. If i could jsut shove some Cat5 across the road i would

So please suggest these cards w/ prices and URL if available - these are for desktops (so PCI slot) nbot laptops

thx

for a desktop you can buy a pci addapter that takes the pcmcia card.

My suggestion:
Use a hub/router/switch to power your house's ethernet network, then use this access point:
http://www.dlink.com/products/wireless/dwl1000ap/#
and this wireless card:
http://www.dlink.com/products/wireless/dwl500/
to connect their computer to your network.

Notes:
-specs say:
indoors - approximately 82 to 328 feet
outdoors - approximately 328 to 984 feet
-security hazard: anyone walking by with a laptop and a wireless card can tap into your network

Also, never use CAT5 between buildings. Use fibre optics. If you use CAT5, and one building gets hit by lightning, it'll travel over the CAT5 to the other building and fry everything there too. With fibre, there is no metal in the cable, only glass and plastic, which are insulators.
