Is time ripe to go 64-bit?

Under a ceiling.
I heard the driver support and program support are utter rubbish at the current moment, but I was wondering if I could do some basic gaming on an XP 64. If yes, I'll go 64-bit, just for the heck of it.

I think 2006 will be the era of 64. All major drivers should have support by then. I would wait.

Well it depends... if you have a whole lot of stuff that doesn't have 64bit drivers, then don't change. But if you just have a gaming PC, say with an nForce motherboard and a Nvidia graphics card... then i'd say go for it since there are 64bit nForce drivers and video card drivers. (ATI may too I never look).

Plus most major games are ok on 64bit, or have 64bit versions.

Hmm... I can't get the VIA SATA 64-bit drivers... so I have to shelve this project for a while. Also, if I were to install Logitech SetPoint and Wacom Tablet applications, would they work in 64-bit environments?

From what I hear time is definitely not ripe yet. There's still not a lot of support out there for 64 bit, and you'll most likely have problems with hardware and software.
