Sony Vaio Laptop --- Locked out/password problem

A friend of mine is having a problem with her laptop. She says she is "locked out" and needs a password. I am not sure if it is on the initial system boot up, or windows bootup.

Does anyone know what the problem may be or what a possible password may be? Like a root/system password?

Could I re-install windows on her laptop? Would that fix it?

i think if you take out the one battery for a while it will reset something...help someone?

Looks like i need to figure out a way to "hack" into the windows XP user login for a certain person.

Most people never set an Admin password.

Maybe that will help you.
