Interesting K8N Neo2 Platinum Anomaly

If you have kept abreast to the continuing saga of the Venice/San Diego core CPU and bios issues with the 7025, you may find this interesting. One of the issues is the motherboard defaulting to 2T memory timing with no means to set it to 1T.

I recently migrated from my 3200 Winchester to the 3700 San Diego. With Bios 1.80, I too was experiencing the 2T issue. In doing some thermal comparisons between the two and swapping the two CPUs back and forth. Usually, when I change CPUs I do a CMOS reset. I had just finished collecting some data points on the Winchester, which doesn't have the 2T issue, removed it and put the San Diego back in. In a moment of distraction, I forgot to do the clear CMOS and proceeded to boot. No odd behaviour, but the San Diego came up in 1T instead of 2T. I rebooted, went into the bios and like normal with the San Diego, there was no option to set 1 or 2T, but upon exiting, the San Diego once again came up in 1T. I have rebooted a dozen of so times since then and the 2T issue has not returned. The board simply defaults to 1T.

So, those of you who like me, are eagerly awaiting a decent bios release and in the mean time, have a Winchester as well as a Venice/San Diego core, care to try this experiment, it may give you temporary relief from constantly having to run A64 Tweaker once you get into Windows in order to set the timing to 1T.

The missing 1T memory issue is only related to the San Diego cores. I have the Venice core and I can change settings in bios to 1T. Interesting how you accidently left the 1T setting while swaping Winchester to San Diego CPU and the the bios loaded 1T. Good job.

Whoops, wasn't sure if it applied to both or not, so I guessed...

Can 1t not be set in windows via A64 tweaker at all?
Nice find

When I call up A64 Tweaker, the 2T is already disabled. That's the choice you get. 2T Enabled/Disabled, unlike the Bios, where you set it to 1T or 2T. Once MSI comes out with a Bios to fix this problem, I'll try clearing CMOS before flashing it, just to verify that a clear CMOS would allow the original problem to return.

2T disabled = 1T
