Hello all, I am looking to build me a Custom PC.

I just picked up a comp. from my friend for $200, but I started modding it so I am just going to build a complete custom one, instead of upgraditing this one.

The one I got is a:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
ECS K7S5A Pro
40GB Maxtor 7200RPM HD
ATI Radeon 64MB G-card
512MB Kingston Ram
52X CD Burner

So far I have added:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2
512MB Crucial Ballistix Ram (for a total of 1GB)

And I just ordered last night a new case/PS combo:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...tails.asp?EdpNo=1419039&Sku=ULT30966-X-500-BL

So I figured I would just build a new one and take my new RAM and soundcard out of my present comp., and put it in a new one.

So from reading around this site, the ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe Looks like it will suite me well with good CPU upgradability.

So this is my list of components that I am thinking of so far:

ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe
With this MB, do I have to run 2 sticks of RAM?

AMD Athlon 64 3000+

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ
Since this HD is a NCQ drive it will still work, eventhough the A8N isnt a NCQ MB?

Crucial Ballistix 512MB Ram

Case

Now I havent really looked a g-cards, But I need one prefurably under $100, any suggestions?

Also, What CD-r/RW Drive should I get? Link to Newegg's CD drive's

I plan on getting all of my stuff from New egg, mainly for their cheap shipping, and their repputation on here.

So what do you think of this setup?

Thanks

Well I'm on my way, I am slowly collecing the parts for this.

Last night I ordered my CD drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106978

And the other day I ordered this case:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...tails.asp?EdpNo=1419039&Sku=ULT30966-X-500-BL

Tonight I think I will order this floppy drive/card reader combo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16821104104

And maybe this HD:

I am still figuring out what G-card to get.

So what do you all think?

Thanks

looking good. if your an overclocker [hope so] ;)

3200+ Venice Core
and
DFI Lanparty NF4-SLI

that ram should be good that you have, but you might want to check out some TCCD based memory such as the PDP Patriot XBL or the Gskill PC4400.

And about your video card situation, if your straped for cash look into the
6600GT or the 6800[NON GT or Ultra]

edit: i think with the 2.8V o nthat memory and the timings, i THINK its tccd, might be BH-5 based?

also for the extra memory bandwidth dual channel offers, i would strongly recommend running two sticks of the SAME memory.

Looking a G-cards, there are alot of 6600GT ones to chose from: NewEgg 6600GT Cards

The 6800 Cards are a little out of my price range.

This China tech card is a pretty good price and has alot of good reviews: Chinatech 6600GT Card
NewEgg is even out of stock on it!

So would that be a pretty good one for the money? Thats about as much as I can spend for a g-card.

Thanks
