Data recovery

About 11months ago, I and a group of 30people got conned on ebay. We reported to the police, we all sent off our details, every bit of corresponadance with the seller. I thought nothing was happening about it so when I reformatted my HDD yesterday and did a clean install of Windows I didnt think about backing up those emails, and besides, they had a hard copy anyway. So, today, I get a call from the Officer's secretary saying please keep these emails.
I ask, why? you have a hard copy?
Apparently they have been 'mis-layed'

So, now I need to reocver these files? Any ideas? Is if possible?

First, stop writing to the drive, including booting to it. Next, get a trial version of either Rstudio, Ontrack's Easy Recovery, or Get Data Back. Links:

http://www.r-tt.com/
http://www.ontrack.com/Homepage.aspx...ename=Software
http://www.runtime.org/

These should be able to tell you if you can recover the data prior to buying the SW. You will need another disk to recover the information onto and boot from.

You can try Convar's Disk Inspector:

http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm

It's freeware and worth a shot.

Thanks for the links. I'll try them now. I afraid its going to be difficult. I had already transferred 60+GB of data back onto the drives over my network.

That's not good news, but good luck with it.
