For some of the teams at the top, the gaps only get wider. the defecits around us are coming up on 30 million points or so. This takes a huge amount of resources to recover, so what happens when there is no hope to overtake and no worry to be overtaken? I'm just hoping people don't lose interest!

If one loses interest in a cause where you are working for the cure to diseases then you've been doing it for the wrong reasons

I fold for team 32 because I like being in one of the top teams and I prefer Overclockers Forums to OCAU's Forums.

If I were to simply fold for the team along with my countrymen I'd be folding for team 24, and for a long time was considering moving to support them. No longer. Team 32 is my team for ever.

Besides, I fold to move up inside our team rankings. I'll never even come close to number one, perhaps I can achieve top 50 one day.

We will have a run this winter, oh yes. We will prevail. I promise you. If it empties my bank account I promise. Well, if I haven't told you yet I am entering the Navy and I am borging all the computers of people I know. And before you start yelling at me, yes I will ask for permission. If I can get 75ghz by next year I will meet my goal. It is quite a goal indeed. Unless I can get an old government supercomputer

It depends on just how old. Any current desktop computer is considered a supercomputer by the old forms of measurement. Remember apples riddiculous claim that their desktop computers were supercomputers? Well technically, they were correct.

I'm going to bite the bullet, too! President Obama ordered the cabinet to cut $100 million from the 3.5 trillion federal budget. I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that I have decided to do the same thing with my personal budget. I spend about $1,000 a month in household expenses, but it's time to get out the cutting axe. I'm going to cut my spending at exactly the same ratio! It looks like instead of spending $1,000 a month, I'm going to have to cut that number by three cents. Yes, I'm going to have to get by with $999.97, but that's what sacrifice is all about. I'll just have to do without some things, that are, frankly, luxuries – three cents worth. Unless it was something like the cray red storm systems or something else running linux I doubt you'd be able to run f@h on it anyways....

Well you never know i almost got a munitions class super computer for free but i had to turn it down because it required 3 phase 240v and was huge, there was no way i could get it into my apt let alone cool and power the beast. Last i knew it ended up in the dump because no one had a home for it.

The Cray-3 draws 80,000W of power and can handle 125,000 adds/s (thats not flops, thats adds) and is cooled by flourinert. Just a few fun facts for anyone wanting to buy one
(original retail price was $5,000,000-$10,000,000)

Yes but it would still likely be a humbling experience to see one

But that doesnt mean the newer one consumed any much less power, nor was cooled too differently

Good point. It'd be pretty cool to own the old cray-3 and simply have it sitting in the guarage not even plugged in though....

It is but a matter of time, fellow folders. We have ramped up to threaten the top 2 before, and we can, and we shall do it once more.

And if we can't catch #1 or #2 we still have third place to defend.

Aye, there are plenty of teams itching to be #3 on Stanford's list, so be proud of where we are. As for climbing the ladder, have faith - we'll be there soon enough. Maintain what you got, then

build, borg, recruit!

That is the '32 way. We have the powah folders mixing it up in the upper ranks. We have one of the most, no, the most dedicated folding forum around - her members are second to none. We have the strongest folding rigs, based on points per client, of all teams on the list. We have Wedo's One-Click, and Arkaine's Overclockix - software used not only by our folding team, but other folding teams as well. Our homepage is being tackled on several fronts, and will be done in no time at all. So what's to lose interest in? Nothing! Keep on keepin' on, and never let up!

It doesn't really worry me where Team 32 comes in the Team Rankings. I just wan't to be in Team 32's prestigious top ranks..... This might sound blasthemous but I really don't care.....

I can fold for anyone. I choose to fold for team 32 because of the underdog status.
At this point in time we should forget about getting to spot #1 or #2. At the rate we're going we should be concerned about not dropping to #4. We've dropped about 800 active CPU's in 2 months (yea i know schools out). Lets work on a 300K PPD average. If we can't do that then we're done.
