Need opinions on this setup...

Hey guys, I have 2 Maxtor 80GB laying around and I want to put them to use..Should put these in a Raid setup or no? These will be used for just storage so, which Raid would be the best if I should choose to run in raid setup? Also, I have a promise ultra 100 controller and am thinking of this setup:

(RAID/NON RAID)
1x 80gb to IDE1
1x 80gb to IDE2
DVD drive and DVD Burner > PCI controller (Promise Ultra 100 TX2)

or

(NON RAID)
DVD to IDE1
DVD Burner to IDE2
2x 80GB > PCI controller (Promise Ultra 100 TX2)


which setup would yeild better performance??
