FSB overclock problems

Im running a Tbird 900MHz on 100*9 (200 FSB) ive tried overclocking by increasing the FSB but anything above 103*9 (927 MHz) then my system fails to boot. Is this something to do with the alteration of the FSB affecting the PCI speed. If so how can i get around this.

first of all, welcome to the forums
i don't think that an increase of 3 MHz in the fsb would affect the pci cards. it would be good if you could provide some more information (like your motherboard, power supply, ram etc) so it will be easier to help you.

just a little more info please, like watts of psu, brand and speed of ram, what temps. If you only have a 200w psu, that would be my first guess. Then again my 250w psu is only amd recomended to 800mhz, but I bought it with in a 1ghz system and now running at 1.2ghz. My next guess would be the motherboard, but I don't know much about that board, so thats just a guess.

yeah a little bit more info would be nice. I was also thinking of the watts of psu OR temp. Since your cpu isn't o/c'd i don't think it has something to do with the core voltage

well i now have it running at 1Ghz with 111*9 and anything past that and the system fails to even post. I can only reach 1GHz by setting the ram to 100MHz instead of 133MHz. Is this due to cheap ram or are there setings in the BIOS that will help with this.

by the way are there any CPU fans u can recommend that dont make a racket but will kepp my CPU cooler than it is. Im currently using a cooler master certified to 1.2GHz. I also have a Globalwin WBK38 but i took it out after 1hour cos the noise was driving me mad.

First of all, the noise is worth it if you are even considering overclocking. Secondly, buy some major branded memory such as Crucial, or corsair. Memory prices are cheap now, especially SDRAM.

Most likely you have a Via KT133 based board. If that is correct then it is not surprising that you cannot overclock your FSB by very much. Many Via KT133 boards were known to offer very little headroom for raising the FSB. None of the three Asus A7Vs I owned at various times (one of which I still own, and good riddance to the rest) were even stable at as little as 105 FSB.

my a7v can do 133+fsbs.....was running 137 fsb(look at second rig) but i had to take my cak38 back to my first rig .....and btw it's not a a7v133

usually it's the rev 1.04 versions or higher that can do 133+fsbs
