When can we expect the dual cores to come out??

How long are we talking about now? few months or end of the year job??

Just wondering you see, because I am starting to save slowly for a next gen system - though I have dipped into this week for a new monitor...

I don't even know what the new dual cored chips are going to be called lol..

Will they be dual cored that fit on 939 sockets? or will AMD bring out a new type of socket for them - and then of course the new mobo's will come out also..

I know the new next gen graphics stuff as far as nvidia goes is the 7800 and the G70 if I am not mistaken... plus ATI are bring out their version of SLI also..

So any advice for me about the next gen cpu's? such as names and what socket they will be?

much appreciated people

I'm pretty sure that they are limited release now from AMD. They are socket 939. They are supposed to work on any MB that supports current AMD FX-5x chips. If they do support or not will depend on your MB. Most may need a BIOS upgrade.

I don't really know any more that this. I'm not in the market so I haven't looked hard yet.

cheers.. so I am going to have to buy a new socket 939 mobo preferably withy pci-e a new g-card for the pci-e and a new dual core cpu..

maybe even some new ram also, because the fsb speed will above 200 for the 939 socket won't it? so my 3200 DDR will be no good.

It's looking like its going to be a bit pricey.. over £500.00 from were I am sitting..

Well this is the general site - so just to say Intels are already out, AMDs perhaps towards the end of the month- maybe even July before you see substantial quantities in the US.

Your ram will be ok. I think that in Europe we can expect a Athlon 64 X2 in july (maybe till the end of july).
