Optimized SETI App For P4 Linux Boxes

Thread from the SETI BOINC forum here.

It appears that Tetsuji has done it again, compiling up optimized versions of BOINC for Linux. Unlike his Windows app, he used the IPP libraray instead of FFTW. Aparently it shaves off a fair number of seconds compared to another optimized version, and a ton off of the official version.

SSE3 Version: seti-lin-sse3-r7.tar.gz
SSE2 Version: seti-lin-sse2-r7.tar.gz

While these two versions technically should work fine on AMD processors (assuming you have SSE2 or SSE3 support), they probably won't perform all that great because the IPP library used is created by Intel

Benchmarks provided in the thread:
4603 sec. Optimized SSE3 -- 9245 sec. Official (200% faster)
7122 sec. Optimized SSE3 -- 16961 sec. Official (238% faster)
7341 sec. Optimized SSE2 -- 17121 sec. Official (233% faster)

Definatly looks like a winner

I'm not really crunching Seti anymore, but I gave that windows Tetsuji client a try and it really works! Shaved two hours off units on an old P2 350 I have and about 40 minutes per unit on my 2.8c Not bad at all! ¦¬) Now if they can only make the same for Einstein...
