red faction/max payne

i just finished playing the demos for red faction and max payne.

both great games and could beat halflife but the graphics are slack in red faction (esps the skins there weak) but the enviorment is spectalulor,

i loved townaling thorugh the walls in the glass house extra awsome!

and the glass very nice.

and max payne has no multplayer, you cant have a great game without a multiplayer option.

if they can fix these problems there going to be great games.

Well I don't know about that. I still think Max Payne is a very good game. I'm not sure if that style game would really work that good in multiplayer. It's not as fast paced as games like Half Life, Quake III, UT, and Red Faction. This is just my opinion though.

I have finished the actual Red Faction game. I wasn't pleased with the graphics. Although the ability to destroy actual terrain was cool. The story line was pathetic, and the ending totally blows. There really wasn't an ending. It was almost like the game was too short. And they just stopped it at the end of a level.

Red Faction was a total waste of money, and the online I don't like.

I've not played Max Payne yet, but I've stood over the shoulder of my roommate while he plays. I plan on giving it a shot before too long.

Just from what I saw, it was cool. The bullet time looks fun, and my roommate won't shut up about how cool bullet time is. I'll admit, it gives some AWESOME visuals. Nothing like jumping through a door and blasting a guy with a shotgun, and seeing a slug hit the wall over your shoulder. Very awesome toy. I love the writing they did on the game. Very descriptive, and very noir. I'm into noir.

As for multiplayer, who needs it? Deus Ex didn't have multiplayer originally, and I thought it was one of the best FPS I've ever played. In fact, I STILL measure games against it! My favorite was the "lean" feature. Made sniping that much more realistic. That's why I'm looking forward to Wolfenstein.

Red Faction isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I haven't beat it, but thus far, it's not terrible. I like how you can deform the terrain. Call me a sociopath, but I like blowing stuff up.

As for a game being short and having a kinda weak ending, check out Zone of Enders and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Zone of Enders was beaten in about 7 hours, and the ending kinda sucks. Is the game still good? Hell yeah! Graphics and gameplay are both a 10+! Soul Reaver was the same. It got cutoff in production (Eidos admits this), and the ending is kinda weak, but it leaves you wanting more. So they did good with that.

My point is that the ending shouldn't be such a big deal. The journey should be the most important part.

Of the two though, I'd have to go with Max Payne. It's journey seems much more fun than Red Faction. But don't discount Red Faction. It's fun. Not groundbreaking, but fun none the less.

have you ever played action halflife its very similar to max payne just without bullet time.

so if they have to take bullet time thats ok if they can find a way to leave it in even better
