While I want to build well im going to build me a super gaming maching in a week my poor *** friend wants to build the cheepest gamin computer.

He is giving me 350$ to build the most out of it and an additional 50$ for me so what can you guys recomend lol im gonna have fun with this one. It won't come with a monitor or keyboard or mouse just the Case and whats inside it.

Hmmm... Im not sure if you can build a computer with 350 dollars. But its worth a try.

edit: :welcome: to the forums. :)

Thanks.... I want to try to get this comp build with 350 or just a little bit more cause I get 50 bucks in the end so... I need the forums help!

Okay, so the only components needed is what's inside the case (and the case itself), are you able to purchase the stuff online or does it need to be local shops? Also, is he looking for anything specific (ie able to play most games (lower-end) or application suited)?

Well he told me he wants lights in the case, yes I can get everything online. Im not sure how he wants his games to be.

Brundle Fly I hope you fully read my first post. I sayed I am going to build my super gaming machine myself with over 1000$. THEN I sayed my friend wants to get the most out of a 350$ computer if possible. Geez

Sorry dude, and :welcome: to the forums :D

Still, for $350, a gaming system, even a cheap one? Not happening. You can't even mantion $350 and "gaming" in the same sentence, that's an oxymoron, it just don't fly. Of course, if all he wants to play is "pong" or something similar, I see 486 systems for sale alla time in the "budget stretcher" area of the classifieds, most of them less than $300, that might do him up. Seriously, any kind of gaming system, for less than $800? Yeah, right, reality check time, tell him to shake his head.

Total = $393

This won't win any major contests, but it should be enough to handle games like Lineage 2, MxO and GuildWars (as the major titles). Feel free to mix and match parts as you want, but this is just a sample of how one can do a decent cheap comp.

Very Nice WinterHavok I will look into all of these I need more people like you these days.

I resent that! I build my computer for $760 and it included everything but the os, the keyboard, and the mouse. ^^" It replaced a laptop that died.

Mobo: Asus A8V-E Deluxe (not the best but it works for me) 939 socket
GPU: geforce 6600 Gigabyte (it's fanless so it's silent)
CPU: (athlon 64 3000+ Winchester)
Drive: Lite-on 16x duel layer burner
Case: Codegen /w 350watt psu
HD: WD caviar 80gb sata
Ram: Corsair 1gb value pack (2 sticks 512mb)
Monitor: Insignia 17" CRT ($60 brand new after mail in rebate from best buy)

I think that's everything and aside from the monitor I got it all from Mwave and Newegg. So it can be done! :D

Plays doom 3 1024x768 on high res perfectly.

Dell sells $400 computers and can run alright with games if they can do why couldn't I? Shouldn't be as hard as everyone is saying it is.

I won't quibble over $40. Toss in a mouse, keyboard, and OS? OK setup, but I'd want at least a 450watt PSU, and the value RAM would have to go :)

Anyone can build a cheap system, but building a decent gaming system for $400? Dell sells cheap because they mass produce systems, they make their money through volume. BTW, a $400 system from dell will probably be running a Celeron and a bottom of the line vidcard, not exactly a gaming system.

Sorry man, not here to argue, but this is the OC Forums, where we OC systems and are always looking for the highest/best performance possible, I can't see that coming from a $400 system

I'd drop the soundcard and go with the mobo's on board sound - and that's a $20 saving. Also, if he is willing to have 40gb storage and not 80gb - you can save another $50 (though 40gb is kinda small imo).

Also, note that no floppy drive is included in that - at only around $10 (I think - I don't know US prices) it would probably be worthwhile putting one in.

Further, at my university they run a computer recycling project where old parts that are going to be binned can be picked up dirt cheap/free. I got a floppy drive that works fine for £1, a very good 17inch CRT monitor for £1, and various little things like that. It might be worth checking to see if anything like that exists around near you.

In hindsight, if he wants a floppy drive, I would drop the soundcard and use the onboard sound and pay the $7 for the floppy and spend the rest on LED casefans (the guy wanted lights in the case). However, I think he should stay with the dual 40GB because that mobo should support RAID 0. Those are probably really good machines theMonster, however I am one of those who likes taking pride in building the rig myself.
