Noise levels

What do you all think about the idea of putting sound-deadening foam along the back wall behind my computers to quell some of the noise? I've got my machines at ground level, next to the "driver's seat" with a generic, fake wood finish, particle board desk as my computer stand.

it probably won't do much... cussions won't do anything to noise, I would pipe it to somewhere by a hose or deflecting it.

Don't think it'd do much for you. If you really want to lower noise go with Quieter fans or water cooling

Actually i tried this and it did reduce noice slightly. The noise of the fans coming is blocked somewhat by the case sides, but it just comes out the back and bounces off the wall.

O yah, foxmulder, i love the avatar.

I actually bought some Dynamatt for that purpose...then built my water cooling system before I installed it. Doh. Still got the roll sitting here if you'd like to try, apparently if it's done right it works well.
