My dvd burner just doesnt seem to be working

I have a liteon SOHW-1633s and for the past few days I have been trying to burn debian onto a dvd. It is INCREDIBLY slow i'm talking like .5x slow. Its a 16x burner but last burn it took 4hrs to get to 30%, i obviously didn't let that finish since i had stuff to do. Now its 12minutes in and only at 3% so i think its going to do that again. I have the latest version of nero and latest firmware so thats not a problem. My media is Ritek 16x so thats not slowing it down either. Its really frustrating since the burner works fine with cds but makes coasters out of the more expensive dvds

Oh its also in dma mode not PIO

2hrs 26min in and only at 32% this is supposedly burning at 16x ...

Is it just the debian file that takes so long? Or have you tested something else?

I switched to Alcohol on a hunch and my hunch was right. Burned the file in 6minutes 12seconds
