SLI Questioning..

I currently have the rig listed below... I am already starting to get unsatisfied with my 6800gt agp. Would it be wise to go sli? Can i play all games sli or what? I don't understand really why people say wait until later..

Here is what im thinking
AMD 3500+
2 gigs of ram at 2 3 2 6
a8n SLI-Deluxe
2x 6800gt's

Because its expensive right now

Sli will work for some games now but once it comes out in full force nvidia will release new drivers so it will work in older games(not that it won't work in older games but your fps could be worse in sli then with a single card).

Its a good idea to move to sli but right now its expensive... it all depends on the amount of money you have to spend.

I think the reason they say wait, is because of the cost.

who can afford 2 kick butt vid cards at over $150 each !

He's a Sticky on SLI

You'll have to make your own mind up on this one.

How big is your wallet?

EDIT: I agree w/ Adam too.

It kind of scares me that you say some game play slower in sli.... That is not good lol... How do i know what i can play in sli and what i cant?

Probably by checking out the games website & see if they support SLI.

...go to the game forum here & seek info about specific games from other players.

I think it's not the video laggin, but maybe HHD or cpu. It's really hard to say.

What games "lag"?

Have you tried using "FRAPS ?

It tells you what your FPS is, always stays ontop & is visiable in game.

What I meant is that not all games are approved to run in sli (yet atleast)... so if you take some game thats not approved to run in sli then the game starts going funky and you can end up having lower fps then if you were running a single card... but at the rate sli is growing in popularity new nvidia drivers will be released to allow older games to run sli

I don't think ATI has said anything about the release date officially

Just wait couple of months (one or two) and get two 7800GTX in SLI since you have $1000 to spend. Or if you want to wait more you can see how R500's do.

That's why I said wait a month or two after they come out. Don't waste your money on anything else even if you get one you should be good to go.
