I have ordered a new mobo (abit AN7) but delivery has been delayed because the cooler is out of stock. I was thinking of switching the cooler so I get the board sooner as my asrock is on it's way out I think (various problems with it that get worse with age). My budjet is £30 UK for the cooler, I will consider any UK sites that are reliable enough and cheap. I usually use www.scan.co.uk , www.cpucity.co.uk , www.overclockers.co.uk but any others are considered. My mobo is on order from scan so anything from there is good as I won't need to pay extra on the postage.

I ordered this but it's not in stock
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=116933

Anything similar price or under that will be both quiet and perform at least as well as the gigabyte I ordered is considered. Also it will need to fit ion the AN7 ( http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=87815 ) . I will be overclocking my sempron as far as it will go so performance is needed.

I was looking at the thermalright xp120 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Thermalright_120.html is this any good and will it fit on my new board?

the xp-120 won't fit on that board, it isn't made for socket a mobos. But the Si-97 will and in my opinion is the best you can get right now, but you'll need to buy the fan separately.

yeah he is right the Si-97 is the best for the socket A. Some fan recommendations can be found in the "Choose the heatsink that is right for you" sticky up top written by me.

Si-97

I have heard several great things about the SI-97, and although I do not have one right now, I would still recommend it based on what everyone here says about it. I am not absolutely sure, but I think that any 92mm fan would work out very well, although the Panaflow's seem to have the most recommendations. Also while your at it, if you don't have it already, you may want to pick up a tube of Arctic Silver 5. It is by far the best thermal compound I have used to date. I just reseated my heatsink not even a week ago with it, and am already starting to notice temperature drops.

Currently using antect silver, but near end so am getting this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=130266 (cannot find AS5 in stores near me or on site I ordered mobo and cooler from).

Will try and get that sink then if I can find somewhere that has in stock. A shame xp120 wouldn't fit SoA as it was in the sale on but lucky I didn't order it.

Thanks again. Does anyone know any UK sites that have AS5 at cheap price? Also is it much better than akasa AK450-2G?

the motherboard you order is good. I ordered it last month because my local store stopped stocking nf7-s rev2's. Its pretty good as far as i can say. The best part would probably be the ide connecters being on the side of the case, that way you don't have those thnk wires everywhere.

Anyway, i recommend the si-97. But again, for, my local store does not carry ANY thermalright products ( which sucks ) so i am buying a thermaltake polo735 which is pretty good for the price they sell it at.
