My Antec Server case isthe same as the Alienware cases!!!

about 6 months ago I bought an Antec Server case.. It was large and in charge.... Cost me a pretty penny too... But I must say that I seriouslly like it overall...

Ive also been hearing alot about the Alienware cases recently and havent bothered checkin them out cuz I know I wouldnt have the money to get one ... so why tease myself?

Well Finally someone gave me the site link and I decided to go ahead and take a look... On the first page I just kinda paused a little bit... thinking that they looked a lil much like mine.. But I figured that hey, there had to be some serious differences on the inside... so I cruise the site a bit lookin over the info on the cases...

And Oh my... they are the same freakin cases... There are I think 4? MINOR differences? Mine came with a 300watts PSU, theres are I think 400? the little alien head fan covers (theres a duh)
then the paint jobs... mine WAS just a generic black in color... (actually more of a gray but they called it black) and there was something else but cant remember..

But I ramble... Just thought that this was too schweett.. so I hadta share...

From what I have seen and have had friends experience, Alienware seems to be nothing but overpriced garbage peddled by undertrained people with absolutely no attention to detail.

But hey, I could form that opinion from any company that didn't bother to screw down a $300 Gforce 3 before they shipped the computer...

Right on the nose about the overpriced part. I don't know about the rest, because I'm not fool enough to waste (WASTE!) my money on an Alienware system. They don't give you the option to cooose your motherboard, and they use PNY video cards, without giving you the option to select a superior brand (Which is, literally, every other brand. PNY is TERRIBLE).

The Antec case I bought with the 400 watt psu cost $40 more than the one that came with the 300 watter.

Yep, alienware uses the Antec Server Towers. I think they switched out PSU's though. Antec only sells 300w and 400w with their cases, and alienware computers come with 350, I believe.

As for alienware, they're a huge rip off.. $2300 for a mediocre system? Basically, all alienware is good for is a "cool" namebrand computer. You pay for the name, is all.

Just got the new Tiger Direct magazine. And guess what bunch of slacker computer builders are hawking their garbage through Tiger Direct?

Alienware.

Looks like they have hit rock bottom.

If you want a serious tuned up gaming machine, spend a little more for Falcon Northwest. They don't look as cool Alienware does, but they beat even most custom computers. Alienware computers are probably as good as the machine you or I could build for a lot cheaper. They put good stuff in a machine and don't move inventory like Dell does so they have to charge more. You get a better computer from them than you would from dell or gateway, much much faster and reliable. For people who don't want to build one themselves, they are a good option. For us, they are bad as would be dell or gateway

House: This is the only way! Sometimes solutions are NP complete and there's nothing anyone can do about it! Foreman, sneak into the physics department and reroute their servers to ours, we need the extra processors if we don't want this equation to go quadratic on us. Chase, patch the memory leak and install Matlab 9.3.
Chase: Shouldn't we be using Mathematica for potentially asymptotic functions?
House: When I want your opinion, I'll do an affine transformation to get it. I'm off to see Cuddy. Those parabolic eigenvalues of hers must be good for something.

Well as Ive told others, I WAS hearing that alienware cases were sweet setups.. guess those people were WRONG!. But My system is not an alienware, and I dont plan on buying one. The case I have is the same as those are... Just thought it was kinda neat there... but I agree, mod it - build it - water cool it - your(my)self!

Go to www.resellerratings.com and see what everyone else has to say about them...

Resellerratings.com gave them a 4.7, with their worst point being returns.

Looking at what they have, I'm unimpressed. I could spend $1500 and build a better system. High end AMD overclocked, Geforce 3, Audigy.....

Hmmm . . . tried to build a computer there, just for 5hits and giggles . .

I couldn't get AMD, only Intel
I couldn't pick Radeon, only GeForce
I couldn't pick DDR, only RD (I'd be willing to take the 8% performance hit for a few extra bux in my pocket)
If you get a P4, you can't choose the board
And the price was about 3500.00 USD

Now, if I were to take that 3500.00 USD, and sink it into a system, I could build the most BOSS system you'd ever lay your eyes on.

So, no, I don't think I'll ever be buying an Alienware computer.
