Can this non-pro 9500 be modded?

It's the 64mb version...I think these have only 128-bit memory, not 256bit. There's still a decent chance that you could mod it to get the full 8 pipelines, but you wouldn't quite have a 9700 Pro after modding.

I might look for something with 128mb of memory - you'll probably get better performance out of that these days.
 
9500 = 4 pipes, 128bit or 256bit memory
9500pro = 8 pipes, 128bit memory
9700 = 8 pipes, 256bit memory

That could possibly mod to a 128bit 9500pro, the memory is what makes the difference.
 
That is weird....never seen a 64meg 9500. I have the 128 version and it softmodded nicely and runs like a beast...my son plays everything I throw at it.
 
You can still flash the BIOS so that you can OC it, you cannot with the stock BIOS. Id look for somthing that was 128mb though.
