No! What Is This???

I was painting my case and putting on the second coat. The first coat went on yesterday. I was using a gloss black paint. Today, i bought another can because the other can ran out. This one was an enamal gloss paint. As far as i know the last one i used was enamel as well. When i sprayed it on, this nasty wierd stuff started appearing in the sides of the panel. Here are some pics:

Top Part of Side Panel
Lower part of side panel

Though i am summat releived because this is the back side panel. The one no one ever looks at. The main side panel is yet to be painted.

Though the paint i bought, the enamal gloss, is not screwed up or anything, when i used it on some other parts, nothing went wrong. In fact, its actually glossier

Please tell me why you think that the paint went wrong because i wantto paint the top part of the case, where hte blowhole is, with this gloss paint, but i am scared too because i used the same old paint on the top. I am afraid the same thing may happen.

Yup. I personally think it looks cool. I'm almost positive you can sand it down though

Step 1: Get cheap paint.
Step 2: Start painting.
Step 3: Get VERY HIGH QUALITY paint
Step 4: Start painting.
Step 5: Watch the cracking

i had that happen to me once while painting plastic, apparently if you have been using krylon fusion, you shouldn't use krylon standard clear coat on top of it. cracked up pretty bad. harder to deal with on plastic, especially if you used krylon fusion, you have to sand off all the paint and the plastic that the paint inbedded itself into. not fun. metal shoulnd't be a big problem if you decide you don't like it.

Enamel paints have a "re-coat window" which is generally 15 minutes to an hour. If you don't slap the next coat on in that window, you have to wait a minimum of 3 days, 5 days is better.

You sprayed your case, waited a day, then re-coated, not good, I've done the same thing myself, RTFM, they aren't kidding when they give you a re-coat window.

I suggest sanding it out, as a matter of fact, sand the whole panel down with 400 grit. When you repaint, be sure to have enough paint on hand, or wait the 5 days before spraying on more.

You can buy paint that will give you a crackle finish, no point waiting for screwup to make it look like you want.

Not saying this is the case here, but those images look much like what happens
when you try to mix lacquer & enemel paint.

Keep in mind that the botched finish you now like may come off a little too easily for your taste.

If you are into rough wrinkled finishes, try something like this :::
