Problems folding :(

does anyone have probs running the graphical F@H client? it always crashes my ati driver, wich leads to the crashing of my entire system. and tbh, even on a fresh win install, different drivers and i still have the problem. its really **ssing me off if you have any issues, can you post em? or if you have any ideas of what i can do to ge this to run, it would be greatly appreciated

btw, overclocked or not, i have the issue,

no i havent heheh, for me, the graphical one has HUGE issues, i quit foling for about 2 weeks because its been frustrateing me, this is the first time ive asked for help i want to fold, but man... if its not a freeze, its a crash to a blackscreen, and then the monitor goes off, and i need to reboot, or.. ill get a blue screen, i like the solid blue screens the best, they keep me guessing what went wrong

It is a known issue with the GUI client. Downloading the latest drivers is the pat answer but not something that always works. Never displaying the graphics works also. If you never display the graphics, you might as well install the text client as a service using Wedo's one click. Check out the stickies for the ultimate install guide. You can monitor prograss using EMIII

Are you only having trouble with the F@H client, or have you seen problems with other software. I've run the graphic client on several systems and not one has crashed. Most of them are ATI cards. I will say If you have a non-ATI brand aftermarket ATI card then be sure to get the drivers from the aftermarket company not ATI if possible. Some cards have modifications that affect that particular card. I have an ASUS-ATI card, I have to load drivers from ASUS else I saw a number of crashes.

Hi, yup im stable with everything, i have a sapphire card, i assumed that they are one of the better makers, and the reference drivers shouldve been alright. i havnt heard of anyone haveing a prob like mine, so im assumeing its just another glitch in a buggy system runs good when its cool, but throw som eheat and humidity in the mix, and ive got bluescreen madness. gonna rum memtest tonight again, i only startinng haveing issues like this since i installed my second stick of ocz, i bought them a month apart, but it passed before so.. either way, im almost at my wits end with this set up anyhoo. when she runs rights, its so sweet, no a64 needed, but then i gotta tinker and tune and i just want stability, is that so much to ask for ? :P thanks for listening to me rant, my friends are sick of hearing me cry about it and are telling me to get an intel Nevar! (well maybe )

Have you checked on cooling options?
Bigger exhaust fan, fan blowing directly on Mobo, something I do in all my cases.

Just after my last post I saw my first crash in a while. A QMD was rapping up, I was on the egg throwing together a super cheap system when I heard the beep (PC death rattle) from the onboard speaker. Not sure if it was a random bug in Firefox or the core-96. Upon reboot I watched the GFX client complete and send the WU in hoping it would'nt sign off again. What this means for mew is shutdown folding on this rig this weekend and Prime this system to see if a problem shows up, &*@%$.

Here's a blurb on the graphical client from Stanford:

Quote:
OpenGL games don't work or get minimized when running the FAH graphical client. There is an known issue that can occur when running F@H and any other application that uses OpenGL, which are mainly games. This issue is not due to F@H itself, but rather that OpenGL, which is used in the F@H graphical client, does not allow itself to be used by two programs simultaneously. The workaround for this issue is to uninstall the F@H graphical client and install the console client.
