True Crime: New York City

It is said that there is a sequel to the popular True Crime: Streets of LA game. It will be called True Crime: New York City, and is going to be available to the public this fall. If you have any questions and/or comments you can post them, and if you would like to view more information, follow this link.

It will be awesome for its almost completely realistic world right down to a T, but i feel that the gameplay aspect of the first one was mediocre even though the previews i've read in one of my pc mags seems to hype it up like it was an excellent first title.

Yeh, I see that point. Although in the sequel, you will be able to go into houses and use practically everything around you as a weapon. How cool is that?

I kind of thought it was the content and the difficulty level that held the first one back. The gameplay mechanics even now are much better than GTA:SA's, but the content was lacking.

I mean the cobat was weak for an action/platforming game, but for a free roaming game it was much better than the king of the hill GTA. And the difficulty was so easy you could button mash your way through the game without using combos or blocking.

That and there just wasn't much to do other than the main story. It was lacking the side things that you can do in GTA that makes it so much fun. That and the story was pretty short even when playing through all the forks.

So, with better AI/difficulty I think the gameplay was as good as you can expect from a free roaming game (lots of destructable stuff, decent amount of combos, responsive controls, lots of options like the pat downs, flashing the badge, disabling shots), but they didn't pack in the side activities that R* is so good at doing.

This one may be decent. Although, I'd rather see them do LA again and add a ton of things to do and make a lot more use of the pretty much empty city. I never did understand why they went to the trouble of re-creating so much of the city so accurately, but they didn't add any interactivity to it. Its like a great big empty, where as GTA games use a lot less realistate, but have a lot more going on in it.

Maybe the GTA clones will figure it out someday.
