I currently own an Alienware MJ-12 7700m. I purchased it with an Intel 3ghz P4 chip. Well just now i ran GPUID and got a little surprise. While the chip indeed is a 3ghz P4, the platform is listed as LGA 775?! I was under the impression that it would've been just a regular P4. hm. ANyone else have one of these systems and find this surprise?

Not really, the new Pressy's have better thermal specs, and IMO anyone who puts a Pressy in a laptop is crazy. Also Intel has shifted most of its manufacturing to LGA. Also better yeilds on newer chips allow for lower voltage.

P=M all the way.

A s478vs 775 doesn't matter too much. It's always at low volts and such IMO.

With it being a Prescott, sure explains the heat. When i do Satellite Rectification and other related work... you could fry an egg on this thing!
