Problem's soled thanks to Coin

I have a Dell Inspiron 7500 with an integrated IR port. Everything was working fine until I updated the bios to A14 from the Dell homepage. Now the IR port doesn't work. I tried to add new hardware with the IR port but no success . I also restored the laptop to original settings in the f2 start up. Any help? Thank you.

are you able to reflash the BIOS with the previous version? I presume you have uninstalled the hardware, shut down, restarted and then reinstalled the hardware?
Also there isn't some strange setting in the BIOS to turn on the IR port is there?
