7800GT Review...so, GT or GTX?

At Neoseeker

Although their conclusion is that the 7800GT performs almost as well as the GTX, I can't help but think that's because no game today takes advantage of the GTX's 24 pipelines. I mean, should the decision on buying a 7800 today be based on today's games or on tomorrow's potential games? Evidently, I'm facing this dilemma now, and I tend to lean towards the GTX. As always, your thoughts are much appreciated

Can you give me an idea on how much a 7800 GT is? I only remember looking at the price of a 7800 GTX which is $600 if I remember correctly. If its not much more, I'd go with the GTX.

the GT is roughly $450, from what I've seen so far.

GTX is around $480+

GT is around $420+

I think it's a good deal to go for GTX. It's almost the same as the 6800GT and 6800GT Ultra, all people will say is get the lower verison and OC to ultra speeds, but for the GT and GTX, the price is only around $50 of a difference. If your willing to cash out $400, why not spend the extra $50 and get the best card you can get, and I highly doubt the 8800 line will come out anytime within the next 3-4 years.

AndAndTech has a pretty decent review on it though:

They said it'll come out weeks after the 7800GT is out.

Will they make a 7800GTX AGP?

I think the price difference between the two is so negligible, you'd be foolish not to opt for the GTX.

I scored a BFG 7800gt OC from dell for $340 shipped. Also got a pack of cd-rs. So for me, it was a way better deal. Cheapest I found the gtx was $450 as part of a combo deal.

I got the same deal from Dell.....of course mine still has not shipped. But for well over $100 less, the 7800gt is a better deal IMO. Now if the difference was only $50, then I'd say it would be silly to not go for the gtx.

That review is bull crap some way. They take a way overclocked GT card 450/1050 and compared to stock GTX 430/1200. If they had a 490/1300 GTX there, aslo that card comes like this from XFX I think, then that GT would get blown away I bet.
