Bios misreporting CPU speed

I just put this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16856119002) system together and on bootup Bios reads CPU at 600mhz. I am running a Athlon XP M 2500+. On my main rig the Bios doesn't recognize the CPU (because it's a mobile) but at least it allows for o'clocking. Will this mobo not work with this CPU or do I just need to adjust some Bios settings. I have already done the obvious but it still says 600 mhz. I am in the process of loading XP so I will have to wait to see what Windows says.
Maybe a flash of the Bios perhaps.

BTW, this is just a secondary rig not intended for any strenous gaming etc. I would be happy to just run the CPU at stock speeds but I think that should be around 1.8, no?
Thanks for any help.
Dan

Set it to whatever settings you want, got for 3200+ (11x200) at maybe 1.55v and see if it's stable if not bump the voltage up some more, experiment.

I had a problem like that as well about a year ago. When I was using my athlon xp 2500+ system as my main rig, I started up my pc and saw that my CPU had been recognised as a Duron 1700. I had a heart attack, but I restarted and everything was back to normal again. Methinks BIOS is the problem if the CPU isn't being run at it's default speed (which is 1833MHz)

Check the multi in the bios it is probably set to the processors lowest level. Raise it up and everything should be fine.
