50C is the max load temperature for your CPU you ever want to get. Some people can live above 50C, but anything above that is quite damaging to the life of the CPU.

darksparkz: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=329015 <- please read this and the maximum temp for an amd cpu that it is designed to run is 85C so thats where I would put the limit on temps.

The reason I ask is because I just have a standard case with no extra cooling, actually the system fan went out. So the computer gets really hot, I mean the case even gets hot. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the back system fan.

I have a newbe question:

When I boot up my pc...I go into bios and read the temps from PC health status, I see my CPU Core temp at about 27C - 33C. PWM Area temps at 42C and Chip Set temps at 45C.
When I read the temp from sandra Under Motherboard information: Board temp is 29C, CPU Temp is 43C, and Power AUX temp is 41C.

Im confued which temp is more acurate. CPU core temp form BIOS or CPU temp from Sandra?

Is there any other software I can use to measure my CPU temps?

Thanks

replace that fan and install a program called speedfan to see what your temps are.

Yeah, I agree with SewerBeing that 50C is way too conservative. My Athlon XP 2100+ TBred was running around 51C idle and 60C full load at stock speeds with the stock cooler! It was fine like this for a couple years before I slapped a Zalman 7000 series on it when I started overclocking. Now it maxes out around 50C full load. I don't think 60C is anything to worry about. I'm not too sure about the Athlon 64 CPUs, though, as I just got mine and haven't done much research.

Some programs that monitor temps know that your sensor is wrong. So they will adjust it accordingly. That may be why your Bios read different then the program. As for temps, I use Intel but as they have said from what a hear 50 is pretty hot for them. Your case really shouldn't be that hot, I would replace in-take and out-take fans.

i try to always keep my temps below 50C This summer i have succeeded, but we'll see about next years.

50C IS high for most intel processors. I would install a few more fans. Cooler cpus never hurt anyone.
