Well Im kinda disapointed here I got a 9800 Pro from someone, Its made by CP Technology Co. LTD.=(Powercolor) I slaped a Zalman on it & it oc's like crazy 430/347 but It cant outpreform my 9700 Pro made by Saphire & its only running @ 335/325 whats going on?

I ran 3dmark01 on the 9700Pro @ 335/325 score 17500
I ran 3dmark01 on the 9800Pro @ 430/347 score 16365

I ran 3dmark 05 & the 9800pro outscores the 9700 Pro by a few hundred points
I mean dang with the core & mem oc so much higher than the 9700pro shouldnt the results be much differant than this ?

whats going on here?

I cleaned the old Ati drivers useing ati uninstall tool then went into registry & removed a few known entrys there, then boot into safemode & ran drivercleaner 3 , striped it all out then reinstalled newest CAT 5.8'S, The Os is very fresh maybe 1 month old.

what the heck is going on here

Does Power Color just simply SUX !!!

cat 5.8 kill my score in everything for my x700 and my 9800pro-->XT. So far the omega's based on the 5.6 give me more with my newer cards and don't/didn't(rest in peace) hurt my 9700pro performance either.

Your 05 score seems right, but 01 does sound fishy. Don't worry about it, 01 is useless for determining the power a graphics card nowadays anyway; it is more dependent on the rest of your system.

thx I tryed 3dmark 03 this is some info from an old & recent run seems like something is whaky still. take a look...

thats only 79 points

my new rig is 3000Mhz, 9800pro vs 1900Mhz and 9700pro

dosent seem like much of an improvment

Maybe Ill try omega drivers

Try the omegas, but do now that the 9700 kicks totall ***... maybe not THAT much ***, but surely close to that.

The 9700 and 9800 series cards scale exactly the same. If you have them both running at the same speed they will score exactly the same. Although a 9700pro will never clock as high as any 9800pro. With the 9800pro it is just a core that is capable of more speed and with the r360 core it can measure gpu temp also. The memory on a 9800pro will clock higher as well.

Heres an idea. Downclock the 9800pro to the speeds you had your 9700 at and run 3dmark05. If you get lower than the 9700 did, something is definately up with your system.

LOL. You make it sound like it's a Radeon 9600 Pro, higher frequencies, but hardly better than the earlier ones.

Look at the differance in the cpu & memory between the two systems the 9800pro is in the rig in my sig Im thinking 7000 range
