Where can I get a Sony 24" GDM FW900 CRT in the UK?

Hey all.
I've had a good long search, and can't locate any, certainly not new ones.

I'm looking to buy one after my misfortune with 2 Dell 2005fpw's. I'm not going back to 4:3, hence the Sony.

Anyone have one or know anyone that has one that may be willing to sell it?

Oh, just had a read of the old post's. Just done some googling as well that CRT seems rare>? is it old?

Yes, it is quite old, well, about 2-3 years I think.

It's the only viable option if I want a widescreen, I don't want to go down the Dell route again, but it looks like I may have too...

Was Dell Really that Bad? I Would of Got trading standards on to them or Even better BBC Watch Dog.

But Why are you Going back to CRT?

Yes, they were, and are, that bad.

I still have my 2 2005fpw's, i'm using one right now and I love it (apart from the light backlight problem). But seeing as Dell are taking both of them away, I don't want to risk buying another one from them with the risk of a bigger backlight problem or dead pixels.

And seeing as the 2005fpw is the only 20.1" widescreen LCD available in this price range (around €550), then I have no choice but to go back to a widesreen CRT, of which the Sony WDM-FW900 is the only one. (Along with the WDM-W900, but that's too old.)

All I want is a 20"+ widescreen, I can't believe these are my only options...

I have no idea about finding them in the UK, but here in the US they can be had for as little as $400 in good shape. My only reservation is that they are going to be in the 5-6 year old range *at best* and tubes age. These are monitors used by professionals, and it is highly unlikely that the tube won't have seen a lot of use. Everything could still be in great shape, or it could have lost a lot of contrast.

I've got two 19" Diamondtron CRTs that are ~5 years old. One has seen a *lot* less use than the other, and the difference is dramatic. The one that has seen more use suffers from a much lower contrast such that black is no long black, it's dark (~90%) grey.

Having used a FW900 for a short time, I can say that they do kick @ss, but at this point I wouldn't buy one without seeing it in person first.

Hmm, I see, I had the same thought when I realised it was a professional's screen.

Thanks for the info Nero, I had a feeling i'd probably buy another 2005fpw anyway, i'll just keep sending them back until I get a decent one.
