I have a 1.5GHz powerbook and I was wondering how well it would fold. I was also wondering how well the Apple G5 systems fold. Does anyone out there have a Mac folding? How does it compare to a P4 or AMD64?

the G5's fold pretty well i must say!

My iMac at home doesn't have OSX so it won't fold as no client is available for classic OS but yes macs do fold surprisingly well - but it is a mac.
And we all know PC's are better! lol

I think the new macs are great actually....

When they're running PPC Linux!

I would NOT fold on a mac lappy... they get wayyyyy too hot. I have about 8 G4's folding, they actually are pretty dismal. The G5's are much better for folding. Again, the G4 is perhaps the most dismal CPU for folding, I would compare a 1.5 G4 to maybe a 700Mhz P3, and this is perhaps being generous.

Warg ain't kiddin'... he brought it over to the house.... i put it on my lap... within 2 minutes, it was too hot to hold, and within 5, it had shut down from the heat....

he went home from my house and replaced the stock paste (that had turned black and crusty if i remember his account of it right) with AS5... i haven't heard back, but i think it runs slightly cooler now

My school runs distributed computing on all of their desktop computers. 40% PPC, 60% x86.

The G4 CPU folds about half as fast as a single G5 at 2.5GHz.. That doesn't seem so bad. I wonder how fast computer folds. I have a 2.8GHz with 256RDRAM.
