Can you update an old US Robotics modem so it works on XP?

Hey,

I have a bag full of my old modems, from back in the 98 days. None of them work on my XP machine I'm setting up for a mate.

What would be cool, is if I had an old Sportster Flash - could I flash it so I can install it under XP.

I must admit, I was shocked that none of my modems work in XP, so there is a slim chance I am missing something obvious or the right drivers.

Any clues would be great.

They aren't autodetecting. just install a generic hayes modem. Should work

give model number and revision dude !!
also how is it connecting to pc ?

OK, Model numbers etc. will go on tonight.

They are all old serial modems. All USR ones.

All very anoying!

Are you sure that the serial port is enabled in BIOS?

Have you tried downloading and using Windows XP drivers, if available, and if not Windows 2000 drivers?
