Hi, I'm in the process of testing my new laptop, Asus Z63A, with a Banias CPU.
When I turn on the laptop, it will power up for few seconds and shots off. The screen does not turn on. Is this normal? Or it is and indication that the CPU is not compatible.

Thanks.

The DDR2 RAM will arrive in a day or so.

do you have ram in? is the cooling going on? Is the laptop connected to a power cord?

I do not have RAM installed.
is cooling going on? I don't think so. I was on for like 2 seconds.
The laptop is connected to the power cord

Just wait till you get RAM, I believe that's the problem, no RAM no boot

Might also be overheating if you have no fan or anything connected. Also some BIOS might not let you get anywhere unless it detects a working CPU fan.

err well I received the DDR2 today but the thing is still not booting up.
The CPU fan does work thou.

:(

umm it must be the CPU then.
I hate when companies like Intel do that.

No reason why 915chipsets don't support banias.

One more day. sigh..
