question about bigpackets

im using the windows graphical client, when i edit the client.cfg from bigpacket=no to bigpacket=yes, it chagned everything back to default, like my name and team and stuff like that, but then once i change everything back and go open client.cfg its back to bigpacket=no and keeps doing that over and over... whats the deal?
thanks!
